Tahawus Mine
These are some photographs from one of my favorite projects – the Tahawus Mine in the High Peaks regions of New York’s Adirondack mountains. The High Peaks are also one of my favorite places for hiking and camping, which I did for years before discovering the Tahawus mine ruins. The mine ruins were located on what was the town of Tahawus. The town was relocated south to Newcomb in order for the mine to expand operations. Tahawus railway car scale building
This photographs is from a 2004 visit to Tahawus, a mining site, and also the name of the town that used to stand on this site in the Adirondack Mountains of New York. I\’ve updated my photo essay of Tahawus, some of the photographs have not been posted previously.
