The Taj Mahal in Agra. India's most famous monument. It was constructed by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal in 1632-1653.

These views are from the Agra Fort early in the morning with a nice haze hanging over the Yamuna river.

Main entrance to the Taj and the first view you get of it from within the grounds.

The classic view of the Taj reflected in the fountain. We stayed in a cheap hotel not far from the Taj so we were able to make several visits here at different times of day, and the light was different every time.

Semi precious stones are inlaid into the marble in beautiful patterns in a process known as pietra dura. The beauty of the Taj is equally impressive at arms length as from across the river.
